This large spider was spotted by Con Foley. It has a leg span of about 5 cm. David Court helped to ID it:
"It
is a trapdoor mygalomorph spider of the family
Barychelidae, a relative of the true tarantulas.
One cannot be sure about the species as they are still
undergoing revision. The most likely ID is Rhianodes atratus (Thorell
1890), a species quite widely distributed across SE Asia.
It seems to be able to exist in once-disturbed habitats, even in
such a small area as the Choa Chu Kang Neighbourhood Park which
used to be (and still is) a durian orchard.
It is also found at BTNR although one must exercise caution in
identifying barychelids from BTNR, BTNR has its own
recently-described very special one named Monodontium
bukittimah Raven 2008!

I spent sometime today observing the prey items of waders at Sungei Buloh. I observed that Plovers and Stints typically take polychaete worms, while Redshanks prefer prawns and small crabs.
