Wagler's Pit Viper at Lower Peirce
17 Feb 2009
Sreedharan G
I am one who avoids snakes like the plague. It all dates back to a very close encounter with a king cobra during my teen years. This Wagler's Pit Viper was seen at Lower Pierce yesterday afternoon. Pointed out to me by David Tan, ID by KC Tsang. It appears to be sleeping and as I understand it, from literature read, the snake is nocturnal. Poisonous but not fatal to humans I am told.

Spiders at Botanic Gardens
13 Feb 2009
Tan KH
Today at Botanic Gardens, saw this female Batik Golden Web Spider mating with a tiny male. There was at least one more male on the web. The larger triangular red spider is an Argyrodes, which could sometime be found on Golden Web Spider web living commensally with the host. There was also a dead female golden web spider, apparently leftover food. A fierce battle must have had happened here!

I got this Bronzeback at Lower Peirce at the BBKF area on 12/2/2009. At that time I just have my long lens with me, can't get it whole body in frame. I think it could be the same snake!

Snake and Worm at Sungei Buloh
2 Feb 2009
Danny Lau
Spotted a Dog-faced Water Snake in SBWR on 2nd Feb during high tide at boardwalk.
Please help to id, thought the "orange tape" was sea worm! I estimated the tapeworm between 1 to 2 ft in length, difficult to gauge as it swam with flat body in zig-zag manner.
